President's Message
I am excited to start the New Year as President of the ASTD Valleys of Virginia Chapter. We have a talented and creative board this year and we hope to accomplish many things.
Over the past few years, our board has focused on increasing our use of technology and delivery useful programs each month to our members. Our plan this year is to provide a verity of programs to meet our member’s needs. We have provided four (4) breakfast programs one per quarter so please view our programming schedule.
I feel there has been tremendous improvement over the past few years and my goal is to keep us moving forward by building on what we have already created.
Additionally, this year I would like to really focus on increasing and retaining our membership. By doing so, ASTD wants to provide value- added programs that can be used in day to day activities. We are hoping with some better tools in place, administration of membership and communications will become a simpler process.
The board met in January to start planning for the New Year. We have several board members who, like me, are starting their term in a new position. They have all hit the ground running and I know we can achieve many things this year. I want to thank all of them for their support and work ethic, thus far. I hope we can continue to find time to serve the board to the best of our abilities, even as our careers, families, and other activities pull us in many directions.
Finally, please don’t hesitate to contact any board member with your ideas and suggestions. Our contact information is located on our website. We are always looking for volunteers whether it is a board position or just helping out at programs. Please let us know if you would like to be more involved.
2012 President
